Six Weird Things About Me

Jennifer tagged me. It’s been a while since I’ve done a meme, I think, and this one seemed especially apropos for me. Six weird things about me. Huh. Where to begin…
I name everything. Our fish have names. My car has a name (Annie). Our Christmas tree had a name. I didn’t think this weird, but Chris tells me it is. You know, my piano doesn’t have a name. I’ll have to remedy that…
Everything reminds me of a song. Even now, what I’m typing reminds me of a song. Several, actually. Which means that I have a constant soundtrack running in my head.
I break out into song and dance. Even when I worked in an office, I was known for random pirouettes and big Broadway finishes. During specific songs, all heads turned toward me because they could count on me picking up my imaginary microphone and bellowing. Secretly (or not so secretly), I’ve always wanted to be a Broadway star. In my head, maybe I am.
I have a special spot in my heart for all things pirates, gypsy, and mafia. Love em. (This was before Pirates of the Caribbean, by the way, but I do absolutely love that film and gave quite a bit of grace to the sequel just because I love pirates.) The Godfather is one of the best movies ever. I used to dream of marrying into mafia. I have bought shirts because they remind me of gypsies.
I’m not so good about following cooking instructions. I’m the queen of substitutes. Oops, forgot to pick that up at the grocery store. Hmmm, this will do nicely. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. (See this story, for example.)
Letters and numbers have genders in my mind, and personalities, come to think of it. For example, A is a girl, sweet and shy while D is a very overbearing girl. E is a shy guy (probably because he’s next to D). Ask me any letter or number, and I’ll tell you all about them. I told a friend this fact once. She suggested I never share this. Oh, well. Now you know.
I'm tagging Michelle, Erin, and Willowtree, and anyone else who wants to participate.

Oh, yes, I knew that you would do this justice! And no surprises here. I still like you. Maybe even more now.

I'm not quite sure why people want to tell personal facts to anyone in the world who wants to take the time to read them. I prefer to be a little more private. Yes, I have a blog, but I try to keep my ramblings to happenings or events or something I have seen or experienced that has amused me, or even a future event that I am looking forward to. Perhaps I'm weird????

Interesting how you name everything. I can't even name my pets. My kids are lucky they had names by the time they left the hospital. (They almost didn't.)

Thanks for sharing this bit of yourself.

I thought I blogged about things having genders or personalities. I'll have to dig that up. (I looked I can't find it)

It actually has a name. Synesthesia

I have it to. A little different form. Feeling clay or hearing/feeling cotton crunch hurts my teeth. Bad. I have some other issues as well.

The mafia? Well, now, I would like to hear more about that. I bet you would like John Leax's Tabloid News... poems he wrote based on tabloid headlines. He was intrigued by the fear and desire behind them...

A sampling of poem titles:

Duck Hunters Shoot Angel
Leaping Turtles Invade US
I Want to Have a Space Alien's Baby

(so, now you need to write your own poem..."I Want to Marry a Mafia Man")

Heather and Mich, I'm with you guys. Senses spill over into each other. Music has color, sometimes taste and smell too. My letters don't have personalities but they do have colors. Same with numbers.

I never knew other people didn't see things this way. Then again, I didn't know other people didn't live mostly in their heads either.

I think we should have our friends say what things are weird about us. I've been told I say the word "weird" weird. Sounds normal to me.

Oh Great and Esteemed Weird One.
I, your loyal follower, have posted a mere sampling of my weirdnesses on my own blog.

:)

Apparently that whole gender/image thing you have going is fairly common amongst autistic savants (the new PC term for idiot savants).

Oh boy! I got tagged. But you know there's nothing weird about me. But thanks anyway, I was running short on ideas.

I could probably join you in song... I burst out in song like that too.

In fact, I had 3 sisters who also did the same.

For no extra cost you could be in a room with us and experience not one, not two, but maybe even three of us burst into song... at the same time, same words, same note...
uncanny!!!!

But letters and numbers --- you are in a class of your own there..kid!!!

And about the letter thing - I've always thought that the letter S looks happy.

I believe there's a medical definition for what you have, Heather. I'm reluctant to give it to you because you'll probably start deciphering the letter string and attach a choreographed curtsy. Let's just say you're Weird -- and, in this case, W is most definitely feminine.
