Christmas Wish List

Oh, how I'd love to have one of these babies. You guys need to check this out. Easy on the eyes. Hundreds of books without having to pack a dozen because you never know what mood you'll be in.
Too bad it's so expensive or else it would be on my Christmas list (the real one).
I wonder how long it'll be before our local libraries will have books available for the Kindle.

Did you forget something?

I'd be interested in hearing why you chose this Kindle rather than the Sony Reader. It was my understanding that the Sony Reader was the more "famous" one (and therefore, maybe, the more reliable and up-to-technology standards one?). I don't know. This is just me, illiterate techno-ignorant me. :)

But I am curious to know the reason for this selection.

I thought you might be pregnant

What did I forget?
As far as comparison to the Sony Reader--I don't know. I'm not techno-savvy. Kindle just looks cooler. And it's wireless. Sony has to be connected to a computer to download books.
Sorry about the extended download, Pam. No! I'm not pregnant!

The Sony didn't do it for me and I was trying to figure out why the Kindle seemed cooler. I think because it's got the keyboard so you can highlight and bookmark stuff (I know the Sony does some of that too). But the thought of being able to download any book you want any time is just way cool. If I'm going to drop that kind of money on something (not that I'll ever be able to until they become much more affordable) I want to it be like a genie in a library for me.

Kindle understands what eReader never did. It's all about the bookstore experience.

An ereader can never compete with a real book. But a stack of books, magazines, blogs, etc. will never compete against a good ereader.

I've read a little about this, but I guess it won't make total sense until more people own one and let us know what they like and don't like!
