Three Completely Unrelated Thoughts

Well, in some way, they are related, but to take you to the depths of my thought synapsis would be more frightening than a journey through Pan's Labyrinth.
1. I finally, finally finished a project that consumed mucho time, and I learned one major thing: stupidity covers a lot of brilliance.
2. Lisa Samson has some great advice for letting our Christ-light shine, so hop, skip, or jump over to here.
3. I have been remiss with some great Misfit news. Chris (not my husband but a crit partner) has had his story "Moonshot" pubbed at DKA. It took first place in their 2007 Fiction Contest. Yay, Chris! (I would highly recommend reading it. Chris has a snarky voice and a good eye for plot.)

Hmmm, I can relate to snarky...

I wish to hear more of how stupidity covers a lot of brilliance.

Yes, I too was wondering about the brilliance comment. What was your project?

I don't want to say too much about the project, but I will say that while I learned before that good writing can't cover for a lack of story, a good message, if not expressed well, won't go far.

Okay, I'll go one step further in what I'll devulge. Argumentative rather than teachable people make you want to never again work with them again, and flat out laziness seals the deal. I now know why writers have told younger writers to be good about deadlines given to them and to see the editor as a friend who wants to make the book better.
To be more specific about what I said earlier, bad writing covers a good message. When you have to spend so much time with comma mistakes and fragments and run-ons, you want to make sure you never get a book from the writer of said mistakes again.
Okay, now. I've said my piece.
Oh, and WT - I think you'd really like Chris' writing.
