Heather, yaaaaaaaeeee! I love it!
In honor of you, I asked my kids to name our two trees; this was a while back, but I think they said Earl and Betsy (????). I meant to ask them again this morning before I took them to school, but forgot :/.
Thanks, too, for the little email you sent me with additional explanation--you did my homework for me (and I really appreciate your thoughtfulness).
I'm going ahead and linking your poem to Mr. Linky...there was so much confusion about timing with this, I've added it now and linking for those who've left comments.
THANKS AGAIN FOR PLAYING ALONG! See? You ARE a poet! :)

Very nicely done Heather, and some serious poetic license too.
I don't think I could describe a tree that was sawed off at the base as "evergreen, jolly, living or timeless". (I'm sorry, I'm such a grinch about what are euphemistically referred to a 'live' Christmas trees).
But I did live the poem
Oh, and it LOOKS like a Christmas tree!
I can tell you are a writer!!!
Thanks, guys. This actually was fun, although no promises for next month!
What a wonderful community of poetry! Are guys allowed to participate? I love the multiple versions of cinquain that Robin offers...
OOOH! I love it! Very good Cinquain!
Dreaming What ifs...
